Air Rifle .177 or .22?

Gamo makes a PBA Performance Ballistic Alloy pellet...

Not only are they lead free. They are GOLD Plated.... No kidding.

AND they claim to increase velocity by 25%

I bought my son a Diana .177 when he was 8 Yrs old. It worked well for him and we still pull it out once in a while to shoot in the back yard. He is 12 now and has a CZ 455 in .22LR. The pellet gun was a good first step.

Pumping a gun to shoot it gets old real quick especially for a smaller kid...............Harold

Yeah. But one or two pumps per shot, beats heck outta waiting until you can run to the store to get more CO2 (or worse, from a kids point of view, waiting until he can afford to buy some more CO2, BTDT). Shooting slows considerably, when the budget has to include ammo as well as propellant. Exercise is still pretty much free, eh.
Kind of a toss-up, between pump several times, or fight with more spring than he or she can handle at first.

The Slavias are a good little rifle, and should last a long time. There is a fair bit online for tuning them for civility, rather than power, too. Should be good as is, if that's not your thing, though. Shot a few grasshoppers with one in a bud's yard last year. Fun!

Cheers
