Air rifle recommendation

I've got a Crosman Vantage in .177 and it's a 'Nitro-piston' rifle. I wish I had bought the .22 cause the .177 doesn't have a lot of impact energy, but the Nitro piston seems less distracting than a spring gun. I looked a bit at cdn airgun dealers and there's not a lot inn.22 under $200 - the Optimus (a springer) is even a bit over that. You might find something on sale ? Here's the only nitro under $200 - https://www.airgunsource.ca/us/crosman-vital-shot-np-22-cal.html
And here is a thread about the Vantage. They're right about beating up a scope, I killed one! And most "Iron sights" are plastic body fibre-ops, not confidence inspiring but they work.

Maybe look on EE and airgun forums for used rifles ??
Good luck on your shopping .

Crosman phantom in .22, bought my last one on sale at crappytire for $89. Tonnes of easy cheap/free mods you can do to it. Accurate enough to 25m for a springer.

I just bought the new Seneca Dragonfly in 22 cal. Amazing rifle for the price! The newly designed pump keeps the effort the same for the first pump up to the max 15 pumps, and is much less effort than any other pump rifle. They retail for only $289.99. Scope grooves built in and it comes with a single shot tray and a 7 round magazine. You can still use the magazine with the rear sight removed and a scope installed. I'm surprised there hasn't been any reviews on here about it. At some point, I'll do one in the spring when it is nice enough to be outside long enough to do one properly. In the mean time, look up reviews online.

Oh, and they come with a real wood stock for a change, not to mention that they don't have any recoil, so they are young shooter friendly, and any scope can be used on them.

For your $200 budget I still recommend the Chinese B18 variants which would include the Crosman Optimus, Phantom, Shockwave, Fire NP, Fury, Fury NP, Venom, Vantage, F11, Blaze, Phoenix, and a few others. The metalwork is pretty much the same on these models. Some have a NP and some wire springs. Stock designs are the main variation. I have 2 Optimus rifles, a Fury NP and a Phantom wire spring. All are good shooters and they are easy to work on. I've seen many used ones for around $100-$125.
