Hi All,
I'm looking to start airbrushing a few rifles and a pistol. I'm looking to purchase a variety of colours such as matte white, greys, blues. The rifle stocks are synthetic so I can't airbrush any products that require baking. I've found two paint products that CGNs seem to prefer :
Cerokote C Series air dry
KG industries 1200 series Air dry

Does anyone know of a company (preferably within Canada) that sells a good selection of colours for airbrushing firearms? So far I've only found one or two places that will sell 3 or 4 matte colour only. Most shops in the states that sell these products with a large variety of colours either won't ship to Canada or they will sell in bulk.

New vehicles are made of plastic and all are painted. If you have a friend that works in autobody ask to go into the paint room and you could fill little containers out of the paint turret. Maybe even create some colours.

Paint turret?? Not in any body shop I have been in. In our system we have 65 different tinters and all are kept in pint or quart cans. Also being waterborne they are to thick to spray out of a airbrush. And add to that the binders and such I add make them totally unusable for airbrushing.

OP..find a autobody paint supply store and call them. Tell them what you want and see if they can help. But be prepared for the cost and most can mix up small quantities like 1/2 a pint...and that wont cost you $5.00 either but more along the lines of $50.00 to $100.00. But to be honest...maybe buy rattle cans of whatever colors you are looking for and then spray them into your airbrush paint jar and spray away. I guess another option would be a hobby store ( plastic models, or hobby paint store for artists) and see what you can find for colors that will work. If and this is a big if..if you can find a body shop that has some old single stage colors kicking around (solvent base) you might be able to get them for cheap. Make sure that you spray a matte or semi gloss clear on them after to help paint life.

cerokote can be ordered direct. its not cheap. don't order more than you can use in a few months as it will go off in the container.

You can use the oven series Cerakote on synthetic or wood you just have to lower the baking temp and increase the time in the oven. They are not cheap but they do a starter kit which comes with a spray gun and several colours and the tester will do 2 to 3 rifles.
