Does anyone here own a Airforce Talon/Condor or similar rifle? These rifles appeal to me. The idea that I can dail them down for backyard plinking is cool. I also like the odd look of them.

I wonder if they are any good, or if I can get a similar air rifle for less. I think I like the precharged idea. Wasn't there a rifle that looked and operated like the Talon at one time?

Had one and sold it for a AA S410.

The Condor is LOUD... even when "dialed down", sounds like a .22lr. And dialing down the FPS is not as simple as one would think. That Power Wheel they talk about... that's more for fine tuning.

Your best bet is to go here and use the search feature as every newbie question you have has been ask a gazillion times. http://talonairgun.com/forum/

Talon

From what I've read, they're no urban backyard plinker...if you live in the 'burbs best look at a benjy marauder....the talon is really accurate out to 65 yards or so...and YES it does have a multitude of things you can do with it,even change barrels and calibers at will if you so desire...the only thing that slowed me down was the price...thats why i went with the Marauder,but..each to their own..check the pyramid site and watch the vids from Paul Cappello

Can't buy the Marauder in Canada unfortunately cause they're too quiet.

I understood they were considering making one without the moderator for Canada. They damned near built the Discovery suppressed.Tom ###lord talked them out of it.I think they should also ban mufflers on cars far too quiet.Same logic............Harold

It's way too easy for someone to not hear my car and walk directly underneath my tires......:D

Seriously though, I heard they would make a "canadian" one but they would need a good number of predetermined sales to warrant manufacturing one even if there are only minor adjustments that need to be made to make it RCMP friendly.

Safety first you know, mention that to your MLA.Harold.... I don't know but if it were me I'd rather not hear the neighbour practicing pest control?

Throw a muzzle break on there and you would be surprised at the difference in the sound.

Well I think I wil have to pass on a condor. I just found out what the average price is. Yikes, I think I'm too poor for a PCP.
Thanks anyways.

If you like to mod things and you aren't looking for perfect out of the box then have a long hard look at a QB79 with a regulated HPA bottle or a Discovery.
Sure it's not a condor, but it is a PCP that can be modded for more power. On the plus side is better ergonomics and a lot less noise.
I've got a QB79 on HPA running a toasty and consistant +900fps. It's a fun gun to just mess around with and all the parts are available cheap.

If you can save up a bit go for any PCP rifle. They're a lot different than a springer. Not that I'm knocking decent springers.

Thanks guys. That QB79 look sinteresting. I saw a few sites out there about tweaking and tuning, or converting to air. How much is a QB79, and where does a guy get them?

I have also heard nice things about the Discovery.

So man ychoice...so little money.

By the time you trick out a QB79 you could have bought a ready to go out of the box[with pump] Discovery............................read B.B.Pelltier AKA Tom ###lord's review on the Discovery at Pyramid airguns..............Harold

Thats true! My QB79 on HPA has about $350 into it and the scuba bottle/clamp. I found amazing deals on everything otherwise it would have been an easy $500.

In hind sight I probably should/would have gone for the Disco. The QB is a blast to tune though, the regulated shot strings are almost perfectly flat and a LOT longer!
