Hey Nutters,

I was looking for an airgun for my young fellah, anyone have any suggestions? Can't be impossible to pump or too pricey. Looking for a decent reliable rifle that I can eventually put a scope on.

Thanks

Just bought a Daisy Red Ryder a couple weeks ago for my 10 yr old. Seems ok for getting the fundamentals down. Not too powerful but seems fairly accurate for what it is.

Tons of choices/prices here, great peoples to deal with bought a lot of stuff from them . you could even get the kid to pick his favourite style

Edit : Don't you love it when your thread gets tossed to another section without any "moved" flag ? Granted it should've been here in the first place but geees!
I never check this section but i can give suggestions about airguns if i see them in the general it's just funny how it works IMHO

LOL I never even noticed this forum, I guess it was fair to move. Thanks for the link, I don't think my 12 year old could handle the assortment of guns shown, he would want all of them.

any sub 500 fps airgun should not be too hard to pump. my vote would be for any break action pellet rifle like a benjamin classic .22 or a diana 240 or.... there are just too many. Don't know what your limits are, but you should be able to find a combo with scope for $200 at D&L, Scopes and ammo, Trail Marker or airgun source, specialty shooting sports....

Canadian tire tends to be overpriced.

I suggest the gamo big cat from cabelas. Bought this on a whim while deployed and when I got home my wife had it out of the box and sighted in for my 12 yr old. It comes with a decent scope and holds it zero.

RWS/Diana 34 or HW30 Specialty Shooting Sports in BC German guns are never a mistake..........Harold

For a 12 year old a non-PAL gun (less than 500 fps) is probably the way to go. German made guns such as Diana and Weihrauch are among the best spring piston airguns, but the Diana 34 is a PAL gun. See Airgun Source for Diana non-PAL and Specialty Shooting Sports for Weihrauch (HW) guns that are currently available and under 500 fps. See also Scopes and Ammo for a wide selection of under-500 fps air rifles http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/index.php/airguns-c-25

Look at the Baikal Mp-61 rifle. It's a light side lever gun with adjustable stock and 5 round clip. Good trigger, cool looking. A bit of a pain to scope, but can be done. Pretty accurate for the price.
