I'm not sure why the colour washed out so bad, it may have been because it was so bright out. You get the general idea, though.

AKM:

AKS-74U

Awwwww gee, thanks Dave. That was at the end of a 1 day AK class. I shot the AKM the 4 following days and got much better with it. Aprx. 4 k in 5 days of class.:ar15:

Thank's for sharing. A couple of things I noticed.
- Now I know why the Israeli's altered the Galil charging handle. The AK charging handle looks very awkward to manipulate during rapid mag changes.
- It looks like a single point sling would be much more user friendly with the AK74U.
- The AK74U looked much more controllable.
-You had a big sh!t eating grin on your face during both of them. You looked like you were having a blast!!!

Nice, Stevo!:)

Is that on Klunk's private firing range?

It sure looks awkward for you to work the bolt carrier handle.

I'm glad I'm a southpaw, it would be a piece 'o' cake for me!:D

Now if I just had access to an AK...:(

- With the right technique, it's not that bad. The system was still new to me when the vids were taken. Just hold the rifle up high so the ejection port is angled away and down from you and use the weak hand to rack it. I was taught to rack it after every mag change, even if it wasn't run dry, so I got much faster.

- The single point worked equally well with the Krink and the AKM. Obviously the -74U is a fair bit lighter, though.

- Absolutely, the Krink was more controllable. However, the full-size AK74 was the most controllable of all the FA AKs that I shot.

- Oh yeah, it was fun.:dancingbanana:

The AK is what it is. It's not as inaccurate or reliable as it's internet reputation leads you to believe. It's easy to manipulate and operate with the right methods.

Do it however you like.

Does this technique meet your approval?

What's next? You running up to an M1 Abrams and firing off a round?:D Seriously, you make me hate you:mad:. What a great bit of training!

Question Stevo. Just wondering why they don't teach the method where they twist the Ak slightly to the left to operate the charging handle. Is it something to do with keeping the rifle on target during the mag load? Rotating the rifle to the left still allows you to cover the target and wouldn't be as cumbersome. I'm sure I'm way off base as these guys are the experts and would teach the best method. Just wondering what the reasoning is.
