I've got an SKS-D, bought it recently off the EE.
Whenever I try to load a full mag loaded with 5 rounds, it will not lock in unless I pull the bolt back or load four rounds.

I've got x3 5/30 round steel AK mags, and one 5/10 Korean AK mag, this happens with all the mags.

I though of removing some material off the part of the follower that touches the rivet, but I'm not sure how to access that part since that mag is pinned.

I could move the rivet down or place a new rivet slightly lower, but I don't know how to do that & I don't have the tools for it.

Any suggestions?

mags are pinned to high inset the mag with the bolt open if you don't have the tools and skillz to remove a pop rivet and drill another hole lower and replace it

PM me,i can fix it for you.

When you have 5 rounds loaded in the mag, you should still have some downward movement when you push down on the top shell, maybe 1/4 inch for a 762.
If you can get the follower out than you could grind some off it., you don't want to grind too much off so you can get 6 rnds in.
It is funny they are all the same, but maybe the same guy did all the mags?
Sounds like haim can do it if he is close to you .
I could , but you can buy a revet gun cheaper than what the shipping would be to send them out.

Depends on the mag, of course I did not mean enough to put 6 rounds; in you need room for the bolt , could be a 1/16, maybe 1/8". single stack mag is different than a double stack mag
if you can push it down 1/4 " you will be able to put round number 6 in. you don't want that much only takes like a 1/16th
.

Had the same problem with this sks MC-5D.

Metal AK mags no problem but the PMags, I couldn’t load 5rd with bolt closed.

Pushed or forced the mag downward a few times to slightly bend the inside part of the rivet and filed some material off the rear mag catch (upper and lower part of the plastic mag) and it works now.
