are AK rear trunnions considered a controlled item and are restricted for importation into canada?

I understand the fundamentals, receivers, barrels, bolts and such, however considering how a stamped receiver Ak is built
are the rear trunnions the "firearm" component or is it like buying a stock from the states?

There is a whole technical section of RCMP civilian employees who read the regulations, the court decisions and the words of the Act. If anyone knows the answer to your question, it will be them. But, simply on the fundamentals that you are asking about AKs, the answer will be 100% Prohibited regardless of how much or how little work has been performed. Half a Prohibited firearm that is not deactivated, is still a Prohibited firearm.

Just so you know, all regular police forces are civilians. ALL RCMP are civilians. They are not military, even though they dress like it.
The only police who are not civilians are military police.
