Picked mine up from Kodiak Defence — they just received a batch. They’re also offering versions with a Remington 870 adapter, so you can run an 870-style stock on the rifle.
I spoke with their rep, and they mentioned an upcoming configuration that will support TriggerTech triggers along with a mil-spec stock interface, which should open up more customization options.
The rifle comes with a threaded barrel (on the polymer version).
Regarding .223 vs 5.56: the manufacturer warranty covers .223 Remington only, but many users are running 5.56 NATO without issues. As always, stick to quality, North American-manufactured ammunition. Older surplus (especially inconsistent or unknown origin) can lead to reliability or pressure-related concerns.

Manufacturer of Alcor makes mp5 and other products for Turkish military. Chimera is private company that does not have same standards as Alcor. Also you have warranty that is made by Canadian company. Look at blogs in Australia and you will see that Chimera is poorly made and failing for customers. Look at accessories available for Alco r and what is available for Chimera.

I think I’ve read every blog put out on the Chimera and I haven’t come across any that customers have poor reviews on. Nothing that mentions poor quality either. I read and watched everything coming out of Australia. I’ve watched the torture tests and seen the improvements they have made based on the results. On the other hand I haven’t seen a single torture test on the Alcor. The fact that the Chimera was manufactured to shoot 556 is a big deal for me.
Do you have any links to the poor reviews and quality of the Chimera? I would love to read them.
I've had the opportunity to see a few examples of the Chimera rifle. The assembly of this rifle is kind of difficult and very tight, with carbon build up between the parts I am certain it would be difficult and require a hammer. Seen 3 of them, 2 had to go back for warranty - 1 was replaced outright. I've seen a lot more Alcors, with only 1 needing replacement and it was provided quickly by Kodiak. Additionally, the Chimera is considerably heavier, and most of that weight is in the front. The Alcor does have the disadvantage of being a little magazine picky, especially with hold open. Some rifles only hold open on the Gen 2 PMags, while others only had the hold open work with the Gen 3 PMags. We did get the cross mags to work by shimming them to reduce the forward/backward rocking with electrical tape. If I was going to pick one, I would buy the Alcor.
I’m in the same boat. Consumed everything I could about both. I also own both.
I watched the Aussie torture test of the Chimera and it was impressive. The Chimera has the advantage of having the rail attached to the barrel - theoretically it should maintain zero better after cleaning. It is more difficult to disassemble tho.
The Alcor is lighter, easier to disassemble, and more compact. The Chimera feels like it should be a .308.
Either choice seems pretty good. The Alcor seems better aesthetically.
Barrel is threaded on synthetic stock version.
Both wood and synthetic stock versions are mechanically identical.
