I bought an akkar model 300 field this spring and thought I would do a little review. Hopefully this is in the right place. I couldn't find a decent review anywhere.

I bought the gun this spring at the sports and leisure show. Cost me 240 beans. I was looking for a cheap pump gun to bounce around in my truck.

I really like this gun. It points nice, swings smooth, and so far has shot everything I've fed it. From 2 3/4 dove loads to 3 inch #4 steel loads. Has a 3 inch chamber so no magnums. It has a nice recoil pad, which I think is a necessary item as the gun is quite light.

It's super easy to take appart. The magazine cap screws off and the barrel pulls off. Then the bolt slides out the front. It's a nice system.

Says its made in turkey. I understand its similar or a rebranding of a Charles daly. Not sure how accurate that is, but they look pretty close. I have no experience with C D guns so I can't say for sure.

Action is rather stiff. Sometimes after shooting I'll have as hard time opening the action to eject the spent casing. I've found it helps to pull the trigger and give a quick pull of the pump. This is a rare occurrence however. I would guess once every 100 rounds or less.

The fellow who sold it to me, who also happened to be the business owner, said it would take Remington chokes IIRC.

To anybody considering this gun as a cheap truck gun or maybe for a loaner, I wouldn't hesitate on one of these. It feels an aweful lot like an 870.

Pros:
Affordable
Reliable
Easy to clean/ maintain

Cons:
Stiff action (may loosen up with time)
Parts may be hard to find?

Let's just put it this way. If a friend approaches me looking for a cheap pump gun, and wants to buy new, I would recommend one.
