AL391 cleaning issues...

So ill be 110% honest I know I dont clean my beretta urika 2 near asuch as I shoot its went through duck seasons without a clean along with some other "mishaps" lol

After shooting waterfowl loads the piston rod alodng with other areas are just nnnnnnnasty with the carbon.. I've tried scrubing and cleaning it I just can't seem to get it nice and clean like it deserves.. any suggestions and pointers would be awesome

I've done a search on here but can't find anything...

And tips/pointers guys ???

Let some solvent soak into the fouling. Just run a solvent-soaked cloth over the very dirty areas and let it sit for a while. ou may have to repeat the process in between cleaning wipes. For the piston itself, I find that letting it soak in solvent does the best cleaning. Let it soak for a day and the carbon fouling should wipe right off.

Solvents from various manufacturers will all have different strengths and also different effects on the metal and coatings on the gun...so make sure you're aware of the effects these solvents/cleaners will have before you let anthing soak for a little while.

The built up carbon will cake and burn onto the tube. Spray some Breakfree CLP on it and give it some rubs with a very fine steel wool. Then take your piston and spray the sh*t out of it inside and out with Brake Cleaner, scrub it inside and out with an old toothbrush. Reassemble dry, and then just give it a very light spray of aerosol silicone.

Second the BreakFree CLP. Spray it on the areas with baked-on carbon and let it sit for a day or so. Will remove much, much easier. During the season, keep the piston/cylinder area wet with CLP, and you won't ever have that problem again.
