What is the job market out there like? I am not really "actively" looking out that way but more just wondering. I use to live in Calgary and just out side of Canmore. Ok, guess a bit about my situation. After 17 years of trucking I needed a change, I went to college and completed a two year course in one year (Hard task after being out of school for 20+ years) I graduated from a Business/Insurance course, I would like to get into claims or underwriting (Preferably to be along the lines of trucking/manufacturing since I have a background in that) BUT I can't seem to catch a break anywhere. There are kids fresh out of high school already working after the course but I can't get anywhere. (Most of the older students are in the same boat)... I am frustrated.
I do miss being out west but my problem is I have a family here. My wife would consider the move but I have a huge problem, that is my son from a previous relationship. There is a chance he could go with us, if he couldn't then I would probably stay here.
Sorry guess I just more needed to rant, I have had my resume reviewed by many people and have been told it is excellent. I think the problem here is there is to many people for these jobs.
Thanks.

Not being in the insurance sector i wouldn't claim to know the answer what the market is like right now. I know for trucking (i know your out of it) its non stop here, being the oil field myself i know that its getting busier and busier to the point where its hard to find skilled people. Try indeed.ca or linkedin, they seem to be the best way right now to get a job.

How is the oil fields treating you? What kind of shifts do you do? I have heard many stories about working the fields but you know how those stories go.

I'm a project manager I haven't been in the field in 3 years.

Shifts range from 5/2, 7/7, 10/4, 14/7, 21/7. all depending on the company and field of work your in.

The industry is seeing a return forsure, and many of the companies are trying to snag up asmany skilled people as they can.
