At an exec meeting held on the weekend plans were finalized for a new long term lease for a new site with the owners of Pebble Ridge gun range. A very attractive site in the foothills of the Rockies...lots of trees and natural hillside/backstop
The new site will be on the same property we have been using but located on new ground north of the creek. This new site will give us enough room for a "home" range that can accommodate a full ten stage/two day shoot and dry camping onsite. This move will bring us back in line with what we were accustomed too previously.
Plans were also finalized to hold the 16th annual Canadian Championship of Cowboy Shooting at the new site July31 thru Aug 2. We had to cancel with very short notice last year because of the untimely temporary shutdown of the Spruce Grove Range. With the new lease we hope to never have to do that again!!
The fact of the onsite camping being available again will bring us back to the "shoot then visit/camaraderie" functions that make Cowboy'n worthwhile.
The road into the site has been already upgraded and we will start range const. as soon as weather allows in the spring. Because of the natural topography of the site not a lot of work is required to make the range functional and we plan on having the bays ready before the first shoot of the year in April.
More to come as we progress...
