Recently returned from our annual early season hunt.

One of our guys shot a bull moose and was going to tag it. He realized that the side where the vendor writes the information was all rubbed off, including some of the black tag ink. He was fortunate the other side where the number is was intact. He had it folded in his coat pocket. Also, the metal tags are smaller and flimsier than last year.

He took pics of same and will submit it to different agencies, and of course, self protection should he get checked...which he did not this time.

This is forwarded for your information fellow hunters. Make sure you baby these very cheap tags when handled.

Alberta should go back to a sturdy metal tag similar to what they use to give.

Apparently they have now changed tag suppliers and if you have ones that are not filled in you are asked to replace them but you are stuck with ones that have been issued.

I already reported to the enforcement guys this year that the green ink, black numbers, ink written on my me....the whole works rubbed off. I was putting elk quarters in the back of the truck and used a piece of cheese cloth to wipe blood/debris off the tag so that it was legible in case I got checked out on the way home....poof...everything came off and it was a white piece of paper with some green smudges.

I was thinking the wire clips they gave me were shorter...perhaps they were and it wasn't my imagination.

Hey Alberta ESRD, I found these online. maybe they will work?????
