Ok, I've got a few here. New to the province so want to make sure I get this right.

1) Bear/Cougar meat and hides.
From what I can tell, you're allowed to let the meat spoil or leave it all together, but must take the hide? I don't really have a problem taking the hide but most places require you to keep the meat and do what you want with the hide.

GENERAL

It is unlawful to

6. abandon, destroy or allow the edible meat of any game bird or big game animal (except cougar or bear), to become unfit for human consumption.

BIG GAME

It is unlawful to

7. allow the skin of any bear or cougar to be wasted, destroyed, spoiled or abandoned.

2) It looks like November is basically the only time one can hunt most species with a rifle in most zones? I see the occasional exception here and there but is this the norm or am I misreading the regs?

yes because couger and bear are considered fur bearing animals.

seasons are different for each zone and species. I have not opened my regs yet but the zone I hunt opens for rifle season Nov1 there are other zones that open in late september.

you need to know where your hunting to see when the season opens.

Lots of the northern and mountain zones open for rifle in September.

You are correct that you do not need to recover meat of bear or cougar. They were talking about making it meat or hide for bear but not sure where that's at.

The mountain WMUs (400 series) are open to rifle season for many species as early as September, and some WMUs have late season elk, as late as February.

Great - thanks guys. Yep - was taking a quick scan of the zones and their times since my free days are pretty spread out, so somewhat need to move with the season openings and hunt the areas as they're available when I'm free.
