It turns out that Sheephunters source was right (the buddy who's cousin talked to some guy in a bar one night)

As I a anxiously read through the Alberta 2008 draw booklet .... a Primitive Season! (crossbow, shotgun ML season 15 Oct - 31 Oct). It's in a few select zones mind you, but most importantly, my own back yard!!

Any one else gonna play?
 
great, another "special" season for "special" people. There should be one season, period. Hunt with what you want, bow, muzzle loader, shotgun , rifle,crossbow, handgun, spear ...

Are those in-line monstrosities a primitive weapon, a modern weapon, a muzzle loader?
 
If being "special" means that I get a two week head start on the fleet of road hunters in a pristine area crawling with unspooked animals................

Then hold a telethon for me and call me JERRY'S KID, baby!!

Didn't they relax the numbers (of WT and Mule deer allowed to be taken) last year because of the CWD problem?

It seems like inviting BP folks can only help the situation, but not if they can't get access to land. Isn't most of the land down there in private hands?
 
It's about time we got a "special" season for primitive...better late than never I guess. Nothing like heading out to your spot which you've spent countless wknds and evenings scouting & setting up just to have some yokie road hunter to come and spook all the animals and get'um educated.
I sure look forward to taking my stainless steel optically sighted "primitive" hunt'n arm out to whack me few deers....an how................!

Best my a M.D map and grab a phone.....that's what I done;)
Most landowners I talked to more than welcomed my request to access their land. :)
