Yes, congrats!
Finally getting/shooting that "Dream Buck" can change things for a hunter!
It can give them confidence to try to do it again, or achieve something else harder.
Success can have a funny effect on a person.
For myself, I hunted hard for friggin years trying to get a "Record Class animal"! I mean like 25 years! I never was lucky! I was hard on my confidence as a hunter!
Then it happened! I spotted a huge Whitetail one fall, and could not think of anything else! I hunted every day I possibly could, and finally got him on the last morning of the last day of the season! What a victory it was for me! I was on a high for months!
The pressure was finally off my shoulders! I got my life long dream! The years after that were totally different! I hunted without the pressure, and things came easier! To keep my interest up,I started using different weapons: (compound, recurve, black powder, inline muzzle loaders etc) now I have a few more "trophy" animals to my credit. Once the pressure I put myself under is off , trophy hunting is less important. Now I realise more than ever what gives me drive to hunt. The experience, a new hunters enthusiasm.
I dont hunt much anymore, but I enjoy long range shooting and reloading fairly often.
I really look forward to teaching my son how to hunt! I will make sure he knows how to enjoy the hunting experience for what it is. An essential part of being human, and contributing to THE NATURAL ORDER OF LIFE.
Again, congrats on a really nice Mulie!
