Anyone else going this weekend? Preliminary days started already. The 400 Championship targets are saturday and sunday. My wife and I are headed to Edmonton tomorrow night after work to take part. SK Provincials were last week in Regina. We couldn't make it to that one but a friend who took part all 5 days said attendance was down 50% from last year. Hope the AB shoot see's better numbers...

I'll be watching the scores from afar but I too hope it's a great turn out.

I have good memories of the Edmonton Gun Club. A friend used to call the road leading up to the club "the dustiest road in Alberta". It was introduced to me this way and it never failed me whenever I drove up.

Good luck and shoot well (and win the shoot off!)

I would have liked to go to Edmonton but I still have to work for a living. BC Provincials are next weekend in Langley. The price of fuel and ammo being what it is I'm surprised as many people show up as they do.

I have to work for a living as well. I booked saturday off work so that I could at least shoot the 400 championship targets saturday-sunday. It was 5.5 hours drive right after a 12 hour shift on TMEP in Valemount to meet my wife in Edmonton and then left the club right after the last event to get back to Valemount for work monday morning. Our regular long weekend week off starts this thursday and saturday we will be in Kindersley for a day of shooting...that will likely be all for this year. Pretty meager due to my work schedule but at least I'll have gotten 500 singles, 300 caps and 150 pair of doubles in for 2022. Hopefully next year we can get in a few more targets and shoots.
Oh and I won $42.75 in saturdays 200 singles in the Lewis! Gave me enough to buy a raffle ticket on the new Kolar the ATA is raffling off!!

Haha... thank goodness for Lewis, it's about the only way I can win anything these days! :)

Thats my new strategy or at least all I am admitting to...shoot crappy win lewis $.....;)

First pic...ejecting hulls after smoking a pair of white flyers in the doubles championship event....
Second pic...me on post 1, my wife on post 2...singles championship event...

That is quite a diversified background water, trees and sky .Can bet there are a lot of excuses for missed targets as per all trapshooters.:)

Well big surprise. My buddy texted me wednesday congratulating me on my win to which I reponded what win? He said you won Open Champion in sundays handicap championship. I didn't believe him, figured he was just pulling my chain but he sent me a pic of the shoot results and there was my name posted as Open Champion. Today a package arrived in the mail with a solid bronze trophy and a cheque from some of the options I played at the shoot. I'm pretty happy, it's my first AB Provincial Championships trophy.

Try shooting skeet next to a lagoon, where ducks, geese ,gulls, and other birds are constantly flying overhead. You swing on a clay, and birds are often in your line of sight.

It's the same at EGC, the water in front is the airport lagoons. Lots of birds crossing your line of sight plus planes taking off and landing all day.
