There is a group of us that tries to make a sporting clays tour every fall. We travel around and hit 3 or 4 courses and do some shooting. I think that last year we shot about 1500 rounds in those 4 days at Tofield and Kitscoty.

This year we are looking for new places to shoot in Alberta or Western Saskatchewan. We are looking for names of clubs and locations that may have either a 5 stand or sporting set up. Private clubs that would allow us to come and shoot would be welcomed.

Places that would allow us to camp as well would be a bonus.

Thanks

Silver Willow in Carstairs will let you set up camp there, although no hook ups. They are reasonably close to other spots with hook ups though.

Yea, some guys from work were talking about that shotgun range in Carstairs, and had nothing but great things to say about it!

Yeah, I go on this tour with Snort, we have done Silver Willow before, a very nice course, we occasionally make the trek down there for even just a day of fun.

Time to broaden your horizons and make the short trek to Radium BC. We have sporting clays, 5-stand, skeet, trap as well as rifle, handgun and 3D archery ranges. Nice camping at no cost however it is unserviced. Also several good restaurants in the Radium/Invermere area. Golden will be opening their skeet and 5-stand ranges soon so you can easily do two clubs.

Salter,

I would certainly like to make it to Radium at some point. Having a few places between here and there that we could hit along the way would be nice too,

You should come to Silver Willow this weekend for the Western Canadian Championships. This will be a good one.

Check out Beaverhill Clays if you are up around Edmonton. I just signed up and those guys will treat you right. They do have 5 stand but the main course is a 'walk through' that makes for some very challenging shooting.

Come check out the Lethbridge Coulee Classic at the LFGA range. May 31, June 1, 2014. We set up a temporary sporting course for the weekend. Details to be announced. 300 or more clays, camping, bbq ect...

I've been through the Silver Willow course on three different occasions now and it gets to be more and more fun every time I go. the owner/proprieter Don is an amazing host, and even manages to humour me when I bring my 590 Mossberg to run the course. he is especially accomodating to brand new shooters. each time I go, I bring someone who has never been before, and each time, Don offers to take them out behind the main office/pro shop and let them get used to the shotgun they are going to use, as well as what it feels like to dust a bunch of clays in a row. truly an ambassador for the sport!

Don is as good as they get. And a remarkable shooter to boot

I bought Vanessa some private lessons with him one year as a Christmas present....she said he was an incredible teacher.

I shot Beaverhill for the first time last summer, and I will be buying a membership there this spring. It's a nice course, with good people running it. I also hope to make it down to Silver Willow next summer. I intend to start shooting more sporting clays, and less skeet, as soon as I move South, closer to sporting clays fields.

Book a bit of time to come to Lethbridge for the PF shoot too Stubble we have some of the best terrain - the coulees allow us some presentations you will likely not see elsewhere.

We will even feed you a fantastic steak when we are done
