New to the forum and I apologize if there is already a thread on this but I could not figure out how to search effectively, and my attention span is too short to search every thread.

Anyway, does anyone have experience with the Alberta Tactical Modern Hunter 6.5CM or Modern Varmint 6.5G? They look pretty sweet but the wait is long and they are quite proud of them. I couldn't find weights on the website and the reviews I found were mostly 100yd groups. Anyone know how they shoot at 500/1000 or more? The receivers look pretty beefy (almost like a Mega Arms) so I would think they are not light. I was thinking of one as a hunting rifle (particularly the 6.5G, weight dependent). I assume since they are NR that they can be used for hunting? That may seem like a dumb question but I am relatively new to Canada (and grateful to be here). In the old country, the restrictions were much different, as were the problems.

Just curious and, again, if this thread exists, I apologize for cluttering the forum.

I have a modern hunter with the light contour barrel in 6.5 CM, With scope its not the lightest semi out there but I find it managable. If I took the PRS stock off the back and put a lighter one on I could probably save a couple pounds. Its no sheep gun though. With the proper hand load I see no reason why you couldnt get great groups at 500/1000 m, I have a 500 m range behind my house, next year when I start reloading more I'm going to really test it at that distance.

I'm going to hunt with mine, It weighs probably just under 10 lbs currently. But like I said I could probably get it down to 8 with a different stock

My Modern Hunter in 6.5CM with proof research carbon fiber barrel weighs in at 9 pounds without optics. I haven't had time to do a lot of load testing with it yet but so far my best group is a 10 shot 1.4moa group with my handloads using Hornady 129gr SST's over Hybrid 100V. I think I'll be able to get it down to around 1moa (hopefully a little under) but for now it's good enough to hunt with if I choose to but my regular hunting rifle is a Rem 700 in 7-08 so I don't see much point in hunting with a rifle that is close to 2 pounds heavier just because I can legally take it out in the bush.
