Albertan puts historic military collection up for auction Oct. 29 - Heads Up!

4% buyers fee is actually quite a bargain.

I've only been to two auctions in my life and didn't bid/buy, so I've no practical experience - Is charging GST typical (I guess it would be as the aution house is a business providing a venue)

I guess all of these fees need to be factored.

If I wasn't tapped out from recent pistol purchases, I'd probably go.

It is. Any of the auctions I have participated in here were HST plus buyer fees. By the time all is said and done, you were adding 23 to 28% to the hammer price.

Some interesting firearms sales:

Long Branch No. 8 Mk1 hammered for $1600

1946 No. 7 Mk1 sold for $2600

BSA SMLE Mk1 .22 conversion went for $1600

DCRA No 4 .308 sold for $1800

Dreyse 22 sub-cal kit hammered for $1900

Royal Navy No. 9 went for $1600

People are willing to bid some crazy amounts for weird stuff. $200 for a wood crate? $750 for a 22rf rifle that can be bought new for ca. $550?

Some stuff went for less than I expected. $3750 for an M1 Garand sniper might actually be a pretty good purchase.

$1100 for an SKS-D

$675 for a Model 82 Cooey

$1600 for a 60mm mortierete

$1150 for a N/R M1 Carbine

I wonder if some of it is buck fever....

i picked up the DCRA No 4 .308 sold for $1800. was 1965 $ with the gst and prem. seeing as it has a pristine sterling mag and mint bore i consider that a resonably good deal. im lucky im local and got to go have a look at beforehand. i did look at the sten bayo, im prity sure its a repro.

That Sten bayonet went for $425

I didn't come out empty handed, as I came away with an edge sander for $600

Not the milsurps I was hoping for, but such is life.

I was thinking it was likely one of the repros that Hank made back in the day. A lot of Arlon's stuff came from the Calgary Easter gun show.
I bought about 5 lots of items from this sale. I am happy with the prices. I also missed about 4 lots where the prices were not to my liking.
Im sure it was one of hanks yes
