There will be an algonquin land claim meeting put on by the ofah tonight in Stittsville at the legion 7pm. I was at the one at Perth last week and it got pretty heated. I saw an algonquin cheif shed a single tear. Well worth your time.

Hard to say, the ofah always puts on a big show but they never really throw any weight behind it. There's a lot of guys out there chomping at the bit to get out and protest and that's what we need but we can't count on them to organize anything for us.

I am already feeling sick to my stomach in advance of our local meeting here next week. It is a disgusting thought that I will have to hunt harder and drive farther to find a good place to hunt when there is so little time and money available to pursue the outdoors because I have to spend my time working to pay bills and TAXES to my country who will then turn around and give my land and money to those who don't support the cause, while sucking the life out of it by demanding/accepting endless handouts.

Sad but true. The system is seriously broken.

After talking to a buddy up north yesterday i found out there is suppose to be a meeting March 15th either in Whitney or Madawaska. He says the indians dont want to have it because they claim there are to many white people around.. He also says they are trying to keep the meeting hush hush so not a lot of people attend.. Not sure if this is all true becuase i never heard it but i have known the guy for many years and trust him with my money that he collects from renting my cottage. So i dont have a reason not to. All we can do is sit back, smile and enjoy the ******* we will be getting :D

just back from the Pembroke meeting. Was a large crowd, I would estimate four or five hundred people. Nobody from the band was there. The biggest thing was the almost total secrecy in which this AIP (agreement in principal) was reached. The public does not know the details as of yet. Nobody is defending the general public's rights. It is just the Algonquins and the provincial gov't at the table. The federal gov't merely sits in. There has been secret meetings with the municipalities where everybody had to sign confidentiality agreements. The only thing that is known is the lands (not less than 117500 acres) is to be given to the Algonquins outright. This is spread out all over eastern ontario. Many small lots on prime lakefronts.

Is this a done deal already as in we have not gone through with it yet but is going to get jammed down your throat whether you like it or not, or are these meetings really looking to get a feel from the general public and pull the AIP off the table if there is enough backlash. This deal is raising my blood pressure every time I think about it. I could be wrong here but I thought I read somewhere that we are also going to hand over a bit of cash as well to the tune of $300 million. Yes that is $300,000,000 to take the land. Maybe I was just in a rage at the time and that cash is coming to us from the Algonquins. Oh yea that money would have been ours anyways. This burns my A$$
