Hey CGN'rs!

I'm seriously thinking of reducing my arsenal to one do it all rifle! I'm thinking that a nice light bolt action in .300 WSM should be all the rifle I need. After allm I could use bullets from 130 to 220 grains and that should work from coyotes to grizzlies!

Anyone has a better suggestion for the single rifled guy?

What are you thinking man???? One rifle?? Are you mad? Sorry, but I am having the devils own time keeping it under 10. But then thats just me.:)

If I was to settle on just one, it think it would have to be my M700 280 Rem. But as much as I will never part with my .280, I am really starting to be a huge fan of my M700 .308 Win. - it is easy to shoot for extended sessions at the range, barrel life is forever, cheap to shoot, and it shoots lights out near to far, even really, really far. What more can I ask for ?

a 375 makes for a pretty good all-rounder. Does everything, Africa incuded, and it doesn't feel small when you chase the big stuff.

I can see two or three deer/moose/elk rifles...but ONE...come on..who are you trying to kid?...:)....the very fact that you are on this site tells me it aint gonna happen...:)..and your idea of juggling bullet weights for different game is noble but I think you're better off to pick a good bullet in the middle of the weight spectrum, get to know it's trajectory well and use it for everything...that's what I would do...but then, I'll never corner myself like that.....

At various times I've been up to about 15 centerfire bolt actions but I'm really trying hard to get back to about 6 or 7.....three of four big game rifles and 2 0r 3 .22 centerfires....I've got it down to a 300 Win Mag, a 280 and a 7-08 AI in sporter rigs, a 223 in a heavy barrel and a 221 Fireball in a CZ527....and a 308 in a 700VS..........the others are on thier way out....

I like my m77 in .308

My dad likes his m77 in 7mm rem mag.

.300wsm would work just fine............................Its up to you........

Ok, just one gun but I do still get to keep dad's old 6.5X55... I've hunted taht one once as it is too nice to take to the bush, got a nice whitetail with it too!

So I guess that's 2 rifles...;)

I like you choice...I prefer the 300Win, but whatever.
I shoot 200gr bullets for pretty much everything.

Beware the one rifle shooter!

I shudder at the thought, but If I could only have one rifle for hunting it would be chambered in .30-06 Springfield.

You can find the ammo just about anywhere, and it will handle anything on this continent with proper bullet selection and shot placement.

I did it last year. I sold a 700 in 35 Whelen, a Sako AV in 300 win mag and a Kimber 84m in 308 and bought a 700 Ti in 7mm SAUM. It shoots a 150 gr ETIP very well, but I am having trouble not buying every Sako I see in the EE.

I actually got very close to that with only having my two 30-06's for centerfire rifles. I found that not having a 223 as a "shooter" gun was starting to take it's toll though. I'm awaiting my (hopefully) last I will ever have to buy 223.
IMO if you are going to do it, the 30-06 is the way to go, but I have to concede that you really can't go wrong with any 30 cal.

That is what I did a few years ago..had a custom 300WSM built to be my "do all" rifle.

It's great, and I carry it more than anything else, but there is always another itch that needs to get scratched.:p
