I've been experimenting with 444 Marlin brass.

.444 Marlin isn't rimmed. And the semi-rimmed case head is 11 thou smaller than a .410. .514" vs .525". Lengths of .410 cases run between 1.84 and 2.84. The only like number is the case base diameter.
Magtech makes .410 brass cases. Don't know if they're up here.

Havent some people blown out (fire formed) 410 from .303 British?
I have not, so DO NOT take this as a recommendation

I made up a few of these 303 to 410. While they do blow out pretty good, I never did get them completely blown out near the bottom. Might have needed to anneal further down. Just for fun project, no problem, but you'd probably be further ahead just buying the brass shells. One guys opinion.

Just curious if you have any experience with larger gauge brass shotshells. I wanted to work up some loads for my 20g SxS for grouse hunting. Was gonna pick up some magtech shells. I was thinking of testing a mix of BP loads and Smokeless but I can't seem for the life of me to find any smokeless data.

I'm having the same problem finding data. As a result I'm very carefully working up a load for the 410. I have no experience with the "Magtec" shells. Loading 20 gauge with plastic hulls is not a problem so I don't think I'll go the all brass route. I don't like loading plastic hull 410 as I find that they don't last. I have many once fired hulls (factory loads) that have split folds.

I have never been able to satisfactorily fireform .303 cases. Front forms nicely, but the thicker back end doesn't, even with annealing. And I'm nervous abut using ever increasing powder charges.

I did a little search on it because I wanted to make 3'' 410 shell. Those with 444marlin or 303 british are 21/2 shell.

9.3x74R brass gives you 3'' shell.

I wanted to make a 45 Mongo cartridge for my NEF survivors 410-45 colt rifle. it appears that I am not competent enough to attemp experimenting with one so ...another project down the basement!

Look into 9.3x74R shell for 3'' shotshell they give you a lot more shot and denser pattern out of your shotgun.

Again keep in mind that I am not an experience reloader.

By the way Polar_hunter I love your youtube channel and I wish to see more of it in the future. Love your ingenuity!

Thank you for the video(s) Polar_Hunter!

I was intrigued by this and being a "tinkerer" by nature, I thought that I would investigate further. I recalled having some 444 Marlin brass that was given to me. Having dug deep through my "hoard" I found them but immediately noticed something odd: this brass is made in two noticeably different lengths?
I have Remington (RP) brass cases measuring 2.210" +/- and Hornady brass measuring 2.060" +/- (SAAMI says max 2.225 - .020)
Both types are once fired straight from factory fresh boxes (in my presence - a year or two ago)
What gives here? I looked on the Hornady website listings at the 2 types of 444 Marlin they market but nothing is mentioned, any ideas?

I have 50 Brass Fiochii 410 Shotshells and a set of 410 Lee loading dies, including a full box of #57 Primers. They will be on my Table at North Bay Gun Show Sept 7 2014

Interesting little read and videos, thanks guys.

As much as I like to play, I've not tried any brass shells on my.410 press. Using Winchester hulls I get 12 or 14, and maybe as many as 18 shots out of a plastic hull. How many loads can you get out of a brass 410 shell or a converted shell?
