Last weekend we finished my son's rifle. T3 with 20MOA steel rail which I might change for a lighter Spuhr one. PSE Evolution monocoque carbon fibre stock with wide barrel channel and CTR mag inlet. Precision moulded bedding area with carbon pillar blocks. Proof prefit Sendero Carbon barrel 22" 1/8 6.5CM. Atlasworx AICS mag system with 3 shot plastic MDT mag. Overall weight with the heavy rail 6.6lbs.

Very nice. May I suggest an Area 419 rail? Sits super low on the tikkas, 20moa and if I remember right only weighs 1.9oz. Alternatively Hawkins Long Range Hybrids would be your lightest solution just not as adjustable as a base with rings.

Thanks, I normally use Spuhr rails as they are not regarded as weapons of mass destruction if shipped within Europe vs almost anything from the US going to Europe. We are waiting since last September on US shipments. Bit by bit we will learn how to get stuff across.

1.9 Oz does sound good.

What is the estimated weight when optic mounted on?

We had planned to get a Schmidt & Bender Meta scope 3-18x42 which weighs 700 grams with the BDC turrets and 83 grams for the Spuhr two piece 30mm Hunting mounts.
So 3.783 kg or 8.3lbs. There are lighter scopes out there.
I would have preferred the Sendero Light barrel, maybe even only 20". I have a Carbon Sendero light on my 300WM and it is just right but these are not available as a t3 prefit barrel.

Cool! My lightest rifle is a Danzig sporterized mauser 98 with a 4x fixed scope in 8x57 mauser all in 7.5lbs, it used to be my dad’s, he bought it when he was as 16(now 82), I used it last year on the moose I got!
Anyway IMO a light rifle deserve a light scope!
Nice looking rig!

DGY, I also have a Mauser of similar weight with a light 1-4 mag scope, nice but limited. The Carbon T3 has a different purpose, she suits our terrain well with close off shoulder shots in woods/bogs as well as rested shots out to 600yd+ across valleys. This rifle will also be tested to well over 1000yds.

For sure, different rifle set up suits different purposes. I rarely shoot past 300m and never hunt past 200m! I have a 222 rem with 2.5-16x50 for paper and 300 yards varmint!

Gorgeous rifle. Although I'm sure it lightened your wallet a fair bit as well.

Thanks, we were lucky to stumble across the shot out 25-06 as an action doner the rest are standard components our first ever prefit barrel. The PSE Evolution stock is one of the lightest fully adjustable stocks out there, drop in fit and handles really nicely. Weighs around 700 grams just under 25 oz.

Sun & steel, Salmon River solutions make some nice stuff, we carry some of their products.

The steel rail can stay for now as we will have a heavy 5-25 or 3-27PMII on for initial accuracy testing.
