All purpose semi shotgun?

Manufacturers put camo patterns on shotguns as an excuse to charge hunters more for their product. It makes no difference to the birds.

What a false statement. One thing, your gun is blended to marsh/corn field environment, another is your gun looks like a black stick and every single move of it becomes noticeable. Geese, for example, are very smart and will not even come close if become suspicious. Proper camo (guns, clothes, blinds) play a huge role in successful hunting. Birds not only can see more colours than they have in their plumage, because of additional colour cones in their retina that are sensitive to ultraviolet range, but they also see colours that are invisible to humans. Even exposed skin hands/face can spook birds because of the contrast with the surrounding environment. All hunters I personally know who had black shotguns have replaced them with camo ones. And the gun I use (Beretta A400) doesn't have a price difference between black/camo models.

I find camo shotgun reallllllyy ugly. Otherwise they had a remingtok versamax new for like 800 buck. Shame it was camo id have tried to grab a black one for sure

Yeah. Except you don't realize the 8mm is the better option... Lol Bears are susceptible to shock and a 8mm mauser will do that better than a slug. Standard foster slugs are too soft, and hard slugs like brenekkes require central nervous system hits to cause anything but a slow bleed out - They punch a fair sized hole but don't transfer much energy into the target.

Really? Well i guess its gonna be mauser time then



And no i dont hunt so camo has no use for me

Function over form if you only have $800 for a semi I wouldn't be to picky on a camo pattern.

I will most likely keep the shotgun i end up buying for a realllllly long time. There is no way id buy a rifle that i find look terrible to keep for the next 10+ year. Even 800$ is more than id like to pay. The mossberg 930 is pretty much the ideal price range in the new. Used open a few more possibility

I agree with you 100% on this one. I remember a day laying mine down in a field putting up decoys and it took three of us to find it later

My wood and blued shotgun sits in a stand beside me in my layout chair. Have had no problems shooting geese and ducks for a lot of years. A quick check of Cabelas and Beretta homepage showed a $250 Can and $150 US premium for camo over black plastic. I am seeing a few camo guns where I hunt (prairies) but definitely outnumbered by wood and black plastic. Use whatever you think works, I do.

I don't know, I hunt 20-60 days a year and use both camo and non camo. I think the difference is minimal.

Another thread that has gone on forever, I think you've been given many very good options but despite that I think you have it all figured out now.
Get your Mossberg and hope it works out.
 
Kicking my can, was looking at a 930 and Weatherby SA-08 for a friend. Before Eagle sold out they had new Mossberg 930 for under $400. I would have jumped. Sold out when I called at sale end. My son and a couple friends have the 930 and are very happy with them. Again, snooze and loose.
