Is really starting to grind me gears.. Some of my close friends that know that I own an AR have totally succumbed to the media frenzy and think its "ridiculous" that I own an AR-15...

Before there was never any mention of it.. But now its like i'm evil for owning such a weapon.. dont they understand the difference between CRIMINALS and LAW ABIDING Citizens???

GRRRRR

Find new friends

well to be honest they are my friends because we share interests in other things.. perhaps we don't agree on guns but i cant disown them because of that.. Haha.

Its just frustrating when people don't understand the logic side of things.. The media does a GREAT job at indoctrinating people.

Lets be honest with ourselves, an AR-15 was primarily designed as a weapon, so thats what I call it. I don't like beating around the bush.

That said, theres nothing wrong to me with owning a weapon for self defense and to have a little fun at the range with.

There is a lot of things that we don't need but are cool to have: sports bikes, sports cars, SUV, big houses, expensive wine, big BBQ...etc

It's a hobby like everything else. We don't need hobby, but Life is better with them. Cars causes a lot more death every years vs firearms, and we can easily buy 300-400hp sedan cars. They aren't even sports cars, just regular cars with 300hp. Why thé speed limit is 100km/h. Just because it's fun.

The word weapon is accurate for your intended use I guess:confused:? But it doesn't come across very well with the uneducated. The anti's love that word "weapon" we need to identify every gun as no different as a hunting rifle or target rifle and in my eye's there is no difference. The key board in my hand can be a weapon, the guns in my safe are tools

Yes you can, Your just chicken LOL :D

The trick is. Tell very few people you own firearms. Shoot with people at the gun club and keep your friends your friends. There is not much point in telling people that are anti gun that you have firearms. This is only my humble opinion. Good luck.

The problem with defining some guns as tools in this country is that ones that are restricted cannot be used as tools, unless the work is defense, which makes them weapons. Your hunting gun you could feasibly define as a tool for meat-making, your restricteds as toys for a hobby, but not tools. I abhor violence myself, yet I do not have an issue with calling them weapons. I like to play with weapons, what's the big deal?

Life is too short for dumb friends.

If they goto church ask them if the government should ban churches to deter child molestation.

I think there are a number of reasons to ban the church, but that is just my opinion, and I usually keep it too myself. If enough people share their opinions, they tend to spread, then the politicians get involved and make legislation to keep the vocal constituants happy. I am all for voicing your opinion in a positive way on topics that I am passionate about (like guns) but like the old saying goes, "If you don't have anything nice to say, shut the f@*k up" :D

I recentyl had a coversation about this with someone I know. She stared by saying there is no need for semi auto's and 30 round mags. I countered with criminals don't obey laws. She then brought up the point that the guy WAS a law abiding citizen until he walked into the theatre armed to the teeth. We then googled america's murder rate and 3/4's of them were commited with firearms. I then asked her how many were with illegal firearms, how many were domestic violence where something else could of been used just as easily and how many were in self defence (hehehe). She's still not sold because of how easy it was to kill 12 people and injure 55 in less than a minute.I also pointed out how these massacares happen in gun free zones and how people who conceal carry are responsible for every bullet they fire. It was a long conversation and we both eventually agreed it has a lot to do with the culture in the USA. Also that you can't plan for the actions of a madman. I might get flamed for this but micheal moore made a release which is suprisingly not so much anti gun but tries to shed light on the parts of american culture that lead to things like this.

It's natural for everyone to be outraged because tragedies like in colerado, and we all want something to be done. Alienating your friends won't help the cause. Critical thinking and discussion might though.
