Im currently using W231 for 9mm .45acp and .38 special which is working well.4.2 grains In each. Convenient not having to change anything powder related.
I have cam pro 158gr fcp and they list load data for w231 for 38 but not for 357. They do list H38 which I understand is identical to w231 post 2009. The load is 6.0g compared to 2400s 11g.
Googling tells me 2400 is slower burning an better for the 357. Only reason I could find is because slower burming powders build more pressure slower which is better in magnum cartridge's. Faster builds more pressure faster which equals higher pressures at lower velocity?
My question is how much better if it uses double the powder? Is it worth using more 2400 then less w231?
What would you choose and why?
It will fired in a 4 1/2" barrel.
