Alliant Power Pro 2000 MR

I was thinking the same thing and wondering about this line-up of powders. According to their downloadable guide (has many more loads than the web version) they get the following impressive results out of the .308:

150gr Fusion @ 3060fps
165gr Fusion @ 2910fps
180gr Fusion @ 2760fps

Been over a year, still haven't seen these powders up here yet. Apparently it turns your .308 into an '06...God bless modern science.:D

Try 8208 XBR I am getting 2740 out of a 168 with a 24" barrel @ 1 gr. below max...
Even with fine powder 50grs will be quite compressed......
Have shot the RL17 does not show great velocities until you hit 175 gr and up bullets, again max data fills the case neck to the top...

More to the point, I think, is that has anyone used this powder in a .308 barrel less than 24 inches? What are the chron'ed results with 180 gr. bullets?
%98.999 of factory .308 barrels are less than 24 in. so it remains a mystery to me that the data is given for barrels that %98.999 of shooters don't have. Must be a marketing thing by Alliant to illustrate how fast the .308 is; perhaps they hope not many of us read the "fine print".

I can get 2672 av. 5 shots with a 180 AB from my 22 in. pre-64 M-88 and 44 gr. H-4895, a CCI-200 in a Rem NS (Lee collet die) nickel case.

Today will go to 44.5 and see

Word is 2000MR is the same as CFE223. I have a full range of loaded 308win 168gn AMAX's waiting for a chance to go to the range. I plan on posting Data and speeds as soon as I get a day to do the testing.

I am going through a 26" Shilen Select match so have high hopes for close to 2900fps. Hodgdon says 2840fps max load of 49gn. Should be awesome! :)
