Welcome. I'm -- like you -- a long-time gun owner and user, but newish here. I've found it interesting and occasionally very helpful. I'm old, and many years ago, when my wife and I lived in Oregon, we had a friend who worked as a guide for hunting parties. Guy carried an 1896 Broomhandle Mauser "for bears". When I expressed some amazement, he told me that's what he had, and that's what he carried, and besides the bears were all small black bears. Almost the strangest thing I've seen. Have a good time with it.

my father caried the same when he was on his trapline which is now under wiliston lake . he dispached a cow moose that had charged him with it . funny you should meition it
