Alloy or Steel for Browning BLR Receiver?

I understand the older Browning BLR 81 is a steel receiver, and the new, lightweight one is an "alloy" (I assume that means aluminum, as steel is itself an alloy).

Obviously, the lightweight is lighter. Any other advantages/disadvantages?
