alloy vs steel rings

i know a lot of guys here prefer steel rings over the alloy rings. What are the advantages?

There are many alloy (aluminum) rings out there made by well-known brands. So, they are not good as well?

Not so much a question of "not good" as two different designs for different situations. Steel rings are usually stronger (not always though, depends on the alloy) for a given weight, aluminum rings are usually lighter for a given size. I've had good luck with quality versions of both, and have (occasionally) run across bad versions of both. FWIW - dan
