I had to replace the front sight assembly on my SKS, which is the whole sleeve including the bayonet mount. I removed the two pins, and with an incredible amount of force hammered off the old sight, no damage to rifle.
Now I'm trying to put the new one on, and it's also insanely tight.

Should I grind off some material, or is there some method I can use to get this on?
Alright tried plenty of grease, oil, and lubrication.

Put the barrelled section in the freezer overnight - heat the sleeve as hot as you can in your stove oven - have the driving tools
and setup ready to go - make sure things are lined up and move quickly - once you start you can’t stop - barrel out of the stock
of course -

First, use a caliper and check the diameters. There's some variation. On a couple of occasions i had to very slightly reduce the barrel diameter for the assembly to go on without having to use a 12-pound sledgehammer.
