Can anyone tell me something about this British company and their rifles? I seem to recall a late 1980's gun buyer's guide that had them listed. They are M98 Mausers, but that's all I know. Are they modified military actions or commercial? A Zastava or FN maybe? A picture would be nice too!

Zastavas IIRC. I think they were in the same boat at the Whitworths. Seemed a number of companies then were using the Zastavas, and I think Alpine was one.

Alpine = Parker-Hale!

I have an Alpine rifle , and it's a dead ringer for the Parker-Hale Model 1100 Deluxe , and it uses the same Santa-Barbara commercial mauser action...
Mine even has the same coloured wood as found on the P-H guns as well. There a great gun , and usually priced right when you find one...

Regards ,

Bob

Didn't Charles Daly import rifles with Zastavas actions for awhile, and then Remington outbid them and it's now the model 798 & 799 Remington.

Wow a 2 year old thread resurected. I don't have an answer for Kell2784, but yes Win/64 Zastava have sold actions to a whole bucketload of companies, some who keep it kind of quiet, some who didn't. There were several Brit companies who used them and sold them as 'thiers' when they were actually just assembling rifles in the UK, as well as German companies, US companies etc. Here in Canada for a while we had actual "Zastavas" thanks to Marstar who sold them for a few hundered dollars. And Zastava made/make rifles about as well as they did cars :D

kell2784 - the action will basically fit. The bolt handle notch may need a bit of a modification, and depending on the trigger mechanism, alterations may be needed in that area. The basic action is the large ring '98, so installation can be done. Just might not be a drop in. I have installed PH actions with target barrels in C3 stocks.

Yes sir, a 2 yr old thread brought back to life. You can thank the new and improved search feature that our lovely mods enabled awhile ago. I use the search more often now, and try to avoid re-asking the same old questions that are already posted.
Thanks for the reply guys, I've been looking for an answer for awhile.
