Alternate to case lube

Lanolin works well. There are also lots of other deep draw lubes available commercially.

x2 for the lanolin. Purchase a 500 ml bottle of 90% rubbing alcohol from Shoppers for 4 bucks and a small bottle (100ml or so) of liquid lanolin from a natural food joint, 8 bucks. Mix the two together and you've got several years supply of spray on lube that easily cleans off with H20.

Hint: warm the alcohol in a chafing dish immersed in hot water (not on the stove). It makes the mixing easier. This only takes a few minutes to do :).

There used to be a recipe in the old Lee hand loading die sets that was STP mixed with melted parafin wax and then poured on a piece of felt--can't remember the proportions but it worked quite well for the first few years that I reloaded.

44Bore

For the first pass (deprime, resize before trim and additional quick tumle) good old automotive white lithium grease works well.

When I'm ready to reload I use the Lee stuff. One day I'll have to try the White Lube and see if it degrades the powder if any get inside. It should be ok from what I hear on other sites.

Imperial sizing die wax is the one I ended up using.
I've tried a number of case lube products over the years and I've found Imperial the best by far. As I'm starting to run a little low, on my last 'shopping trip' @ P&d when I was in Edmonton, I tried to pick up somemore but there wasn't any in stock. They did have some Hornady Unique Case Lube so to tide me over until I can pick up somemore Imperial I got a container of that but haven't tried it yet.

Imperial Sizing wax is the clear cat's meow for me. I have been using it for about 25 years. My original tins were the smaller ones, and I load a lot, but it took me a long time to use up a small tin of it. A little goes a long way, and cleans up so easily. I have just started a larger tin, and although I have a spare, I am not sure I will ever need it! For the price, I cannot be bothered mixing stuff to make my own lube. Regards, Eagleye.

Exactly.

Used to swage bullets, and used anhydrous lanolin and mineral oil mixed together at high temp (50/50) as a swaging lube (Dave Corbin's recipe)
It is an excellant case lube. Water soluble and a little goes a long way.
Having said that.... had I not been stuck with A BUNCH when I quit swaging, I would be using Imperial sizing wax. It always worked well.

I would be curious as to why people make their own case lube. Do they think they are making a superior lube? Do the think they are saving money?

If I weren't so darn lazy, I'd make a poll.:p
