I picked up a new Aimpoint T1 2moa earlier this year with high expectations, but after a few range visits I've determined it just isn't for me (reasons relating to flaws in my eyesight).

What in the Eotech line would be a comparable sight? The other option might be a 1-4x scope, but I'd like to keep things $1k and under.

Looking for some ideas here guys.

TIA.

Is your issue with your eyes a stigmatism? Then the Eotech may not be a viable option either for you, if you have a chance run someone elses gun with the Eotech to make your decision.

I had a stigmatism and sold my Aimpoint. I bought a Trijicon Accupoint 1x-4x. It has an adjustable lense focus and I can get the reticle crystal clear (plus I can go to 4x).

Yes, exactly. I have an astigmatism and the dot is all mishapen and imprecise.

I tried an Eotech a couple of months ago and for whatever reason it seemed much better for me.

I cant run red dots due to my sh!tty eyes... I did run a Vortex 1-4 PST with great results... mount and scope are under 1K

The Vortex 1-4 is what I run on my one AR and I like it quite a bit.

I was going to say I love it, but we just got a US Optic 1.5-6 in for our demo AR's and it was all over after that

:D

We do have a couple of the Vortex 1-4's in stock. I don't think they are up on the site though.

I get the tube effect all the time. If your heart is set on a red dot than the only 1 that you should be looking for is the insight mrds sold by armtec.

See if you can use an EOTech for awhile... You may decide you hate it.

For me, my astigmatism turns the EOTech into a 65MOA eye burning dot.

My suggestion would be to look at the Trijicon Reflex series... It's THE BEST sight for people like us with the same problem. I have one and love it (I still like my Aimpoint's too).

BTW, If you do take my advice and look at the Trijicon Reflex series, seriously consider the triangle... I personally like them better than the dot's and wish I had gone that direction.

I would say the EOTech XPS2/XPS3 series would be comparable in that like the T1 they dont take up much space on the rail. I find my EOTech easier on my eyes than the Aimpoint Comp ML2 I run on my M14. I feel like the EOTechs are much easier to shoot with both eyes open as well.

What type of weapon are you using?

+1 for the Trijicon 1-4x24 with post and Green Triangle. Awesome!! Clarity is amazing, it's like looking at HDTV, super bright and crisp.

That sounds like a good option. Where did you source it and what reticle did you go with?

I bought it at the Shooting Edge. I got the triangle reticle, you can get standard cross hair reticles if you want, I like the speed of the triangle. It rocks and glows bright in pitch black or day with no batteries. The Vortex 1-4 is a good choice, but definetly a step down from the Accupoint.

My pictures are really fuzzy (crappy camera), but in real life the reticle is sharp, crisp and clear, even with my stigmatism.

100% pitch black, not a single sliver of light from any source (no batteries!):

You can adjust how bright you want the reticle to glow with the slide:

I have a 1-4 accupont with green triangle as well and really like it. Not as fast with it as my t1 but its still fast.

The optic will usually be under a grand. Good mount for it under 200.

I have astigmatism as well but I find if I mount the optic further down the rail the mishapen dot begins to crispen up. The aimpoint not so much but with eotech yes it looks nice and sharp if further away from eyes.

Which version of the Vortex 1-4 do you have on your own AR?

I'm dealing with the same eye sight issue as the some of the other guys in this thread and it would be great to find a better optic.

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to post all of that. The Trijicon looks like a great optic.

The warranty is 1yr, correct? Are the Trijicons generally problem free?

A strong selling point of the Vortex is of course the lifetime and transferrable warranty - but if the Trijicons are known to be highly reliable than that's less of a consideration.

Trijicon Accupoint warranty is lifetime for optical and 10 years on the fibre optics and 12 years on Tritium.

I too like the Accupoint 1-4X scope. My eyes are not what they used to be, and the post can be focused quite sharply. It is fast, bright and pretty precise.

We sell alot of these scopes for use on everything from Marlin 1895 rifles to AR15s.

All good suggestions here. I have same issue, but I've learned where on the zig zag line of my t1 to aim? :D

But let me also share another option. Not all red dots share the same issues for our old eyes. I recently got a Burris Fast fire 3 and it (for me) is super clear. I have it on a DD 1 o' clock mount that I am setting up with and it really is clear in all lightig and also has LED brightness adjustment as well, auto on anf off as well.

Just something else (in case) you are not looking for magnification.

If you are set on magnification options, the ones listed are good, also the Leupold VXR 1-4 has a very crisp dot for bad eyes to. :)
