Looking at a new project, in .338 Federal. Issue is LEE does not make a die set for this caliber.

What other brand would you recommend for affordable quality?

I know they may not be the fanciest brand, but have been great for me, not a benchrest or F class shooter, just a hobbyist.

Yes. RCBS is my standard. Lee is "good enough", Redding a wee bit better. I don't bother with other brands unless like Hornady or C-H they are they only ones who make dies for a certain cartridge.

I do like Hornady seating dies compared to the other lower-priced options. The sliding bullet diameter sleeve aligns the bullets to the case very effectively. And the micrometer seating stem is a cheap add-on that you can swap onto any Hornady seating die.

:agree: I swapped out most of my common die sets for Hornadys for exactly this reason. I'm not sure if the recent manufacture RCBS dies have changed but with the older ones if you got a stuck case you needed to buy a stuck case puller because the top of the die only had a small threaded hole to hold the decapping rod. With the Lee and Hornady sizing dies the decapping assembly can be removed and the hole in the top of th edie is big enoigh that a stuck case can be pounded out with a long punch without needing a stuck case puller.
