Ok guys. Since I've been told that I will never see 22 cal holes on a target out @ 500 meters plus, I've been looking at alternatives. I have an old astronomical telescope that does 155 power with a 60mm obj. and a 700mm focal length. Aside from the reverse image view, what problems do you think this will present? I can rubber armour the telescope to make it a little more weather resistant and make a homemade prone pod. Anything else? Thanks,

-Jason

I doubt it would work.

If its a Bushnell, Tasco or Jason brand then things are looking really bad.

In astronamy circles these scopes are commonly refered to as "Trash Scopes", the objective lens is usually good but every thing else is junk.

The eyepieces are the lowest quality ( Prob. marked SR or H on them plus a value in mm) and its hard enough to see the moon let alone .22 cal holes at 500 yds.

Jason:

If you are shooting at long ranges your 155X scope might be too much for the afternoon mirage. Give it a try and see what works for you.

It's only a thought right now. I haven't used the scope in ten years or so, (last time Haley's comet came around, god I'm old! ). I figure if I bubba the telescope, I'm not out anything. I used to read licence plates from 15 city blocks when I was younger, so I figure I'd give it a try. No harm, no foul. I was just wondering if anyone else out there had tried this as well. Will update next weekend when I pull out the old girl and give her a try. Hopefully my new scope from Phil (Barska Varmint 8x32-50 w/ mildot :D ) will be on my gun by then. But keep the thoughts coming, the more the better. I'm not set in any idea, just looking at pros and cons. Thanks,

-Jason
