Hello, are there any good alternatives to trail boss or unique for low power for use in antiques.

Thanks

Bullseye is pretty close to Unique.

N320 is pretty close to Red Dot.

Vhitavuori makes a Trailboss like powder called Tin Star. I've never seen it in Canada though. Not sure if it can even be had here?

Tin Star (N32C) is available at Hirsch Precision. $65 for .5 kg, according to their website. While I've never used that powder, I can definitely recommend Hirsch.

Trail Boss, IMR Green, and Green Dot are listed as the exact same burn rate. And Unique, Win 244, Universal, and Power Pistol are also listed as the same burn rate.

In which way is Bullseye "pretty close" to Unique?

OP, are you looking for an alternative with a similar burn rate? e.g. Unique = WSF or Universal. Or are you looking for powder that can produce velocity at small charge weights? e.g. Red Dot or Bullseye.

When you say "antiques" what exactly are we talking about?

I have had great luck with powders like 3031 in old lever guns. Good velocity and nice, low chamber pressures. In bolt guns, with cast bullets, 2400 is your friend.

My Second Edition has the chart on page 157.
