People what is your take on these two options for chassis? I was always a big fan of aluminium, but recently started doubting if aluminium is actually any lighter or stiffer than laminate. Looking at Eliseo chassis for example, I can't see how to reduce its weight without compromising the stiffness of the whole system. I think maybe laminate could do better job at being lighter and stronger, and still be stable enough. What do you people think?

The AL stock I made for my FTR rifle is about 4lbs,(under 2Kg) and seems stiff enough. Kinda hard to go lighter though for this application using that material(I'll try when I get time...).
I think a lot of fiberglass stocks are in a similar weight range, not too sure about laminate/wood, some could indeed have better stiffness to weight ratio depending on design/shape. There's no set thing about that.
Most current chassis designs are in large part about appearance and ease to bolt a factory rifle into, while still working fine. There's a certain point where stock stiffness is really not as big a factor as everything else, so long as its not a wet noodle.

What does the Eliseo weigh anyhow?

Really depends on the type of stock and application you want.

Lam wood is not used in a "chassis"

Very few 100% Alum "stocks"... so, boils down to your definition of action handle and how you plan to use it.

With proper engineering, I think both materials have their place.
