I bought some aluminum case 45 by accident. I know some people have had trouble with aluminum 9mm in some PCCs

Anyone tried it in 45? In a Kriss specifically would be even better info

Well, your rifle manufacturer specifically recommends against it... ;)

I've never tried aluminum case ammo in my .45 PCC, sorry. Frankly, I'd expect problems - It's true that some PCCs can handle aluminum case ammo, but it seems like they are mostly (entirely?) 9mm. It's easier for them because of the tapered case. But the Kriss isn't exactly straight blowback, either, so can't say one way or the other without trying it.

What bullet weight did you get? It might make a difference in comparing notes with others.

This for sure isn't anything definitive but I ran about 120 rounds of CCI 230gr Aluminum case 45ACP through 2 different KV today and all seemed fine. I don't know if the Vector handles aluminum better than other PCCs. I've got lots of brass 45 too so I will probably leave the aluminum to the Glock 21's as it seems to work really well in them.

Thanks for letting us know - I haven't heard much about aluminum cases in 45, one way or the other.

Are your Vectors NR?

Any like unusual case deformation or rough spots from the extractor?

And many recommend against reloads. It mainly due to liability, than if it can run it or not.

Maybe so, and maybe not. And they aren't telling, eh!

FWIW, the Ruger PCC manual doesn't say anything about 9mm and aluminum cased ammo (and people seem to have no problem with it), but the manual says 40S&W and aluminum cased ammo is "strictly prohibited" in the Ruger PCC. Higher pressure, straight wall case, more problems, makes sense.

Also worth noting that the CCI website is pretty clear about Blazer Aluminum for both 9mm and 45ACP:

"Do not use in carbine style firearms. Use in Carbine rifles can result in firearm damage and/or serious injury."

Aluminum case in PCC's is bad because of the blow back action. There is no lock up like on a pistol that prevents the case from coming out a little to early from the chamber which then gives the opportunity for the weaker aluminum to go KABLOOIE and cause damage to you, or more importantly to the gun! (JK!... kinda :p)
Its a serious roll of the dice and isn't worth you getting injured.
Alpining, good find on the manufacturers data.

Cheers,
ACD
