Quick question, if I go with an aluminum bedding block (hs precision for example) is there a need for aluminum pillars? I see that the manners' stocks have an aluminum bedding block and also do have aluminum pillars. I will be bedding the action.

I guess I am asking more how much of an effect do aluminum pillars have over just an aluminum block. In a stock without an alum. bedding block I am thinking I would like pillars for sure. But is there a need for pillars if there is an alum. block?

Depends on how deep the block is. If the block is cast in midline through the stock (short of reaching your bottom metal), it's nice to have pillars for the BM to butt hard against. You'll likely bed your BM in as well but it's still good to have that positive transfer contact between BM and action.

There really isn't always a 'need' for pillars.. many times they are done just for ease of mind. If the stock is dense and strong, you may see no difference with or without a bedding block or with or without pillars. Just bedded properly works too...
