I’m looking for a gunsmith or a machinist who could build me an aluminum trigger guard to replace the chintzy plastic one on my rifle. The only aftermarket option available is offered by PT&G, but I’d prefer to keep the factory magazine which wouldn’t be possible with their product. Any takers?

I’m guessing there would be other 783 owners interested in this upgrade if a guy made a few of them.

The PTG one is vastly superior and lets you use AICS magazines. Way better than the factory offering. I’m sure a new trigger guard could be made for you, but it would likely cost you twice what the PTG unit is, unless you make a bunch of them and sell them off.

I work as a machinist and have a Rem 783 with the PTG bottom metal. Your best bet would be finding a aluminum trigger guard you can adapt to the 783 or try making your own. Skilled people's time costs money, by the time you pay someone to custom make you one, you might as well just spend the money on a better firearm.

So my advise is to leave as is if you want to retain the factory mags, or upgrade to the PTG bottom metal for use with the AICS mags.
