Had a terrific Easter dinner this weekend. Lamb, turkey, rabbit stew and chicken were the main entrees. While eating the rabbit and lamb, I couldn't help but notice that it just didn't taste as good. Whenever I serve a turkey or rabbit that I hunted myself, or someone else shot, it always seems to taste better. I've heard people say the grocery store meat tastes better; less gamey. But my family disagrees. Anybody else notice this? Does it taste better from the store or when you hunt it yourself?

For sure - it's 100x better when you hunted/trapped/killed it yourself - especially after you gutted/butchered and cooked it too. The biggest reward comes with the enjoyment of eating it especially when your effort has provided for others to enjoy also!!!

OK - I'm hungry now........pass the stew......!!!!!!

I agree with the sentiments entirely but when shooting lamb ( yes have done it in the UK on a friends sheep farm ) make sure you hang it for at least a week as it really is very lamby in flavour if you eat it after a day or so, it almost turned the wife off lamb,

Hang the lamb for a week? Wow. I like lamb, and am curious what a freshly slaughtered lamb would taste like.
