That's our moto here for sure. What we made for those that want as light as possible but don't want the more delicate carbon fiber barrels, a stepped and fluted version of our 8" 10/22 barrels. These are not for the Takedown but geared more towards the small, light chassis group of rifles that y'all are building. You can light these little barrel up all day long and they will not let you down. They are tapered down to .820 in diameter so we also have a version of XB-5 linear comp as well as thread protectors for them.

There aren't many of them, they are just a sample run to see if it's something there is a market for. Found here on the website :

A step in the right direction for sure. What is the weight of these?

Maybe I'm alone in this but I would like to have a "as light as possible" 8" barrel. It seems like there is still a lot of metal here that could be removed? Could they not be turned down to the diameter that the flutes are?

These weigh 550 grams. We still need these to handle some rapid firing and as it is they will heat up. Another thing we had to consider is that most folk will want a thread protector or XB-5 linear comp. and we don't want to have to make one-offs just for this barrel. We already make both the cap and comp. in .820 inch so it was an easy choice to leave these at .820 inch diameter. If you really want lighter than these you will need to go to the carbon wrapped barrels, they are slightly lighter.

How accurate are these 8” barrels compared to 16”, for example?
Does a linear comp have any effect on accuracy?
