A friend of mine laughed at my red rifle collection and said you must be sniffing to much cosmoline these rifles are junk. Don't worry I defended them and told him how much they have gone up in value and tried to tell him how cool they are and fun to shoot. He just shook his head and said I gotta go.

Those red rifles defeated the Nazis so they can't be too awful bad. I have a couple of Stalin's finest factory rifles as well and to be truthful they are my most accurate surplus rifles despite the terrible triggers. I also have a lee enfield and several mausers.

All of my Lee Enfields are shot out. Not accurate but still have that cool sound when fired.

Cosmo is addictive! You didn't know that? I've only been separated for about a year and a half but one of the rooms at my place already has strong smell of cosmo and oil :) My friend is even worse. His truck smells like a barrel of cosmo because of all the crap he "looses" in it for weeks. Cosmo packed accessories like oil bottles, bayonets and such. You stay in that vehicle for an hour or so and it gets really bad. He doesn't smoke so windows almost never go down, he complains about wind and other BS but I'm sure that he just likes to get high on that smell :)

I enjoy the smell of cosmoline to be honest, the initial wipe down and cleaning is the best. It's like going into an old army surplus store, that smell of old canvas etc that's been in storage for years.

I also like the smell of Cosmoline. I would love to get one of those paint cans full of Cosmoline. I wonder if any retailers stock it here in Canada.
