Am I addicted to sniffing cosmoline?

A friend of mine laughed at my red rifle collection and said you must be sniffing to much cosmoline these rifles are junk. Don't worry I defended them and told him how much they have gone up in value and tried to tell him how cool they are and fun to shoot. He just shook his head and said I gotta go.

There is something about that smell....

That cosmoline back in the 40's was it more of a liquid? It must have been a liquid then dried over 60 years.

My understanding is Cosmoline is a bit like vasiline almost solid at room temperature. They heated the cosmo and soaked the rifles in it before storage. The best smell is when you get the rifle hot enough to melt the cosmoline in the wood stock and a fine mist gets sprayed around. Great smell. Definitely addictive.

Some people forget there are more than one type of firearm .
Those rifles do what they were made for.
Beat the crap out of it and still pock a hole in a man size target.

Oooh cosmoline!!
