I purchased a Ruger m77 mark2 in stainless with a laminate stock. Shooting off the bench with this gun can shoot out to 300 yards accurately/easily. I hunt out of a ground blind or a treestand. I mounted an Harris Bi-pod on the front. I dont mind the recoil as i shoot a 10 guage shotgun with no problems. What i find though is the muzzle jump is very hard to controll using a bi-pod as you cant really bear down on the front of the rifle. I am not capable of shooting out to 300 yards free hand. I would never shoot at a game animal at that range unless i was using the bi-pod or another rest. I am about to send it in and get a muzzle brake. The guy assured me that this will help the muzzle jump lots. I see lots of people shoot 300s onthis sight is the ruger more prone to muzzle jump or is it just me. I am not a nb to hunting have hunted for a few decades and would not shoot at a animal beyond my capabilities. I know the gun can do it off the bench i just want to have the same results using my Harris bipod. What do you guys think.
