I saw this magazine in the magazine shop a couple of weeks ago and thought... "cool, looks interesting". I pick it up and it is... frigging amazing!! :dancingbanana: Probably the most interesting gun mag I have ever bought. They publish a magazine in German (www.K-isom.com). This is the first international edition. It is in English but some of the adds are in German, such as that Schmidt & Bender add on the back cover (below). This issue is about "Small Arms of German Special Ops Units, and Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg"

I found one more copy at another magazine shop and I sold that to "nemo" (Roger) for what I paid for it ($10+tax). I would like to pick up about 5-6 more copies if possible, as everybody at my range wants one of these now. It's an HK nerd's dream! :)

Anyway... ask your local magazine store if they will bring it in for you. This thing is just full of pictures (basically 100% of which I have never seen before) and cool information. The guys that make the mag have access to these Tac teams in Europe and they go and visit with them and photograph their gear. How cool is that? I want to see more "international editions" soon. I would love to see what they could do with the special units of other countries.

Yah, when I first got this I went to check out their websight and saw... egads!! there are lots of issues of this mag!!.... but they are all in German. This is the first international edition... which I think means first edition in English... but if the mag sells well I think they could be convinced to translate a few more editions. Hell, I'm seriously considering ordering the back issues in German!

Yeah I hear ya, check out "RAIDS" as well though..Great magazine in my opinion, they cover a lot of different armies, and i like that.

Quote directly from their webpage.

You really want to be inside the Special Ops community? Come inside Kommando – we’re in there waiting for you!

Aparently its a spank mag.... hahahahahah

I don't think they carry any firearm magazines anymore. There was talk a year ago or so of them taking them all off their shelves.

I shake my fist at that! Where did you guys pick up the magazine? There arn't exactly "local" magazine stores in Calgary (to my knowledge anyways).

I subscribed to Deutsches Waffen Journal this past year, which was expensive ($120) but worth every penny for the in-depth product reviews. The detail they go into is amazing; it far outclasses any magazine I've ever picked up on this side of the Atlantic, where every gun they review is, like, the best gun ev-ar, dude.

Also, looking at the high prices is excellent therapy when I think I've paid too much for a gun - an AR seems to start at 2k Euro, and you don't get a particularly good one for that price.

Hmmmm, third from left on the bottom row, nice tactical banjo carrier (or is it the HK Ukulele??), where can I get one of these??

I did a double take on that initially too. I'll have a look at the magazine again, but I am pretty sure that those are "flippers" for a "Frogman" type unit of the GSG9. (Edit, o.k., it looks like he is actually a "Kampfschwimmer" ("Combat Swimmer", KS) of the Germany Navy. Something comparable to a U.S. Navy SEAL I suppose. But I am pretty sure I read in there something about a GSG9 marine unit as well).

That is the cool thing with this mag. It just takes me back to when I was a kid. Reading about "Frogmen" and their gear. Total classic.

Certainly GSG9 (counter-terrorism force of the Bundespolizei (Federal Police)) figures very prominently in this magazine, since they have got to be easily the most famous of the German special ops units. The lower chap on the cover is GSG9. They also have a lot of pictures and stuff on:

KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte, Special Forces Command of the Bundeswehr)
SEK _________ (fill in the name of a German State) (Spezialeinsatzkommando, basically State Police (Landespolizei) "SWAT" teams)
EKO Cobra (Einsatzkommando Cobra) - Austrian counter-terrorism
USP (Unité Spéciale de la Police) of the "Grand Ducal Police" of Luxembourg (I thought it somewhat ironic that the "USP" actually issue the SIG P226 :p The upper guy on the cover is a USP officer with his HK416 - apparently the only special ops force among these countries that issues the 416, although it was tested by several of the others.
Most of the Swiss stuff seems to be military or military police and also a police unit from Zurich called SKORPION.
And there are a ton of other agencies represented in this mag. It's a real treasure trove of photos and information.
