Amazon comparator sets

I have not, so maybe I'm talking out of my a$$, but half price doesn't usually scream quality. Hopefully someone with some actual first-hand experience will chime in.

Hmmm…. I might need to try one. I’m getting tired of swapping bits, and wonder if they are truly repeatable if we are measuring to 0.001”, regardless of the brand.

My Whidden die set came with its own 1-piece shoulder bump gauge and that was nice to see.

the "best seller" Accusize Industrial Tools 0-1 inch x 0.001 inch Dial Indicator with Magnetic Base Set

review: "Did a little test to check accuracy with a high end feeler gauge. Set the dial pushed into a flat machined surface and then put the feeler gauge in and measured the difference. With .006 feeler gauge it was reading about .007-.005 so about .002 off. Similar results with a .001 feeler.

So definitely not a precision instrument compared to a Mitutoyo but pretty good for the price if you want something fairly accurate."

Anyone used any of the amazon comparator sets? They are half the price, I wonder if they are quality?
I was looking for two Hornady comparator bushings, and I bought a whole set off Amazon, with a base and anvil, for less than the two Hornady pieces would have cost. The set I bought was well-enough made, came in a padded tin box, and works just fine. Remember these don't need to be super well made - you're just hitting a reference point on the brass shoulder or bullet ogive. You zero out your calipers on that point anyway, so as long as your measurements are repeatable, the tool is working fine.

There's more variation from one bullet to the next than there is in that tool if you spin it on the calipers.

My 2 cents.
